Bad Taste or Good Marketing?
My opinion:
Weird and intrusive? Yes. Unrelated to Nike? Yes. However, people are talking…and Nike is now in the middle of the media tug of war. Not too bad of a thing for the #1 sports apparel brand in the world. They just multiplied their air time…And for free. Every major news network has had a segment commenting on the commercial.
The truth remains and will always be, as soon as Tiger begins to perform on the golf course as well as we all know he can all will be lost and forgotten. This commercial won’t mean much and both Tiger and Nike will hold strong. Some lost fans? Yes, definitely. Same commercial power? Most likely.
